I haven't posted much here in the past two months (but see my guest post from December 2014, "Setting Goals Like the Wealthy," at Canadian Budget Binder). But I'm working on finding more great deals, and a series of posts are coming soon--promise!
In the meantime, here is a deal from Toshiba:
If you order a new computer from Toshiba's website, there are a couple models that are eligible for a free processor upgrade! The deal is valid until Monday, January 19th, 2015.
The link to all eligible laptops for this deal can be found here: http://www.toshiba.com/us/customlanding.to?page=CLS_CPU_Upgrade&src=MAKM&cm_mmc=PR_TwitterTD-_-011315
The link to the computer I'd recommend is here: http://www.toshiba.com/us/computers/laptops/satellite/L50/L50D-BBT2N22. For $380, it comes with fairly ordinary specs, which is fine for ordinary needs. The processor is a decent A6-6310, to go along with 4 GB of RAM, a 500 GB hard drive, an optical drive, Windows 8.1, and a standard 1366 x 768, 15.6-inch display. Nothing special, but a solid deal for the price.
from Toshiba's product page for this computer; link above
For comparison purposes, here's a link to an Amazon search for a computer with the same processor: http://amzn.to/1ANla6f. For around $350, this Satellite C55D-B5219 (http://amzn.to/14Y5fGT) is actually a better deal, featuring the same specs except for a more capacious 750 GB hard drive.
If you buy direct from Toshiba, they'll customize it for you. With Amazon, you're buying a pre-built computer. Whether or not it's worthwhile to buy from the Toshiba website is up to you.
